Airtel says the partnership will help the company lay the foundation for 5G services in the future.
Bharti Airtel on Tuesday announced the signing of a multi-year agreement with Nokia. In accordance with the deal worth Rs 7636 core, Airtel will deploy Nokia’s solution SRAN in as many as 9 circles in this country. This step will help Airtel improve network capacity, especially for the 4G network.
The Partnership will also help telecom operators provide services lay the groundwork for future 5G. Airtel will deploy Nokia 300,000 radio network units in nine circles. It also includes a variety of bands, including 900 Mhz, 1800 Mhz, 2100 Mhz and 2300 Mhz. This deployment is expected to be completed in 2022.
Nokia will be the exclusive provider Airtel SRAN in nine circles. Said SRAN solutions help operators manage existing radio including 2G, 3G, and 4G.
According to Airtel, the deal also includes Nokia RAN equipment, including the AirScale Radio Access, AirScale baseband and NetAct OSS solutions that will help operators better manage and monitor the network.

The latest deal comes shortly after reports that Airtel is looking to increase the footprint of 4G in rural areas of the country. The company has been working closely with Ceragon for this purpose, reported ET Telecom.
