According to the Mumbai Police, rapper Badshah confessed during questioning to having bought fake views for one of his music videos, in a bid to break a world record. He has denied the allegations.
Mumbai Police said that the rapper Badshah paid Rs 72 lakh for additional visits in one of his music videos, in an attempt to break the record viewers. The rapper was questioned in connection with the racket selling fake followers and outlook for social media influencers. He has denied any wrongdoing.
Officials claimed that during interrogation, Badshah confessed that he bought about 7.2 crores to Rs 72 lakh view, to set a world record for most YouTube views in the first 24 hours. He claimed that the music video to Pagal Hai has been viewed 75 million times in its first day of release, beating the previous record set by Taylor Swift and Korean boy band BTS. The claim was rejected by Google.
Nandkumar Thakur, the deputy commissioner of police, told Mumbai Mirror: “The singer confessed that he wanted to set a world record for the most number of viewers in 24 hours on YouTube. That is why he paid Rs 72 lakh to this company.”
“Regardless of Pagal Hai, we also examined other songs of her posted on social media,” another official said Mirror.
Badshah has denied the allegations. “After the summons, I have spoken to Mumbai Police. I have helped officials in their investigation to cooperate and carry out due diligence on my part. I have denied all the charges leveled against me and made it clear that I have never been involved in such practices, nor do I forgive them, “he said in a statement. “The investigation procedure is being executed in accordance with the law and I have full confidence in the authorities, which deal with this issue. I would like to thank all those who have submitted their concerns to me. This means a lot to me. ”
